Weight Management Program Setup and Overview
Feature Overview
Programs can now be configured with weight management specific capabilities. A new goal type has been added, a new event type has been added, and the clinician dashboard now has longer data timespan (lookback) options (all measurement types).
Impact Admin
The new weight management rules and capabilities leverage the current “weight” measurement type. A “weight” enabled program is needed in order to configure the program with the new rules.
Weight Change Goal
Configure the program to best leverage the new weight change goal.
Navigate to Impact Admin
Select the desired program (enabled with weight measurement type) and navigate to “Goals” for the program.
By default, weight programs will be enabled with a weight range goal (ie: “Keep all body weight levels between _ and _ lbs). This goal should be removed (or made optional/reviewer can disable) when configuring a weight management program. If both goals are configured and enabled within the same program, the weight change goal will take precedence over the range goal in chart overlays and logbook in/out of range.
Click “Create Goal,” select “Weight - weight” measurement type, and select “Change” goal type.
Configure the goal as desired. The default goal is “Lose 5% from starting body weight” (starting body weight is entered by the clinician during enrollment).
Direction of goal can be configured: “lose” or “gain”
Units of the change value can be configured: “%” or “lbs”
Configure clinician goal customization and usage options. Notes:
The goal must be configured as “available in program” in order for chart and logbook overlays/visualizations in the clinician dashboard to function.
Click “Save” to save the goal. It will now be available for new enrollments in the program.
Note: We recommend that only a single instance of the change goal is configured within a program.
Weight Change Event
Configure the program to use the new weight change event.
Navigate to Impact Admin
Select the desired program (enabled with weight measurement type) and navigate to “Events/Actions” for the program.
Click “New Event”
Select the “Weight” measurement type, select the “Change” trigger type.
Configure the event as desired.
Select the direction of the event: “loss” or “gain”
Select the comparator for the event: “less than” or “more than”
Select the units for the change value: “lbs” or “%”
Click “Save” to save the event. Note that the event will not be available in the program until an associated action is added.
Click “+ New Action” to configure the desired action.
Click “Save” to save the action on the event and enable the event/action (notification) in the program.
Note: The change event will be based on submitted weights and not a clinician manually entered “starting weight.” The change event trigger will benchmark against the triggered reading value, and not the next directional change increment.
For example, for a goal of “weight loss is more than 5 lbs” - user enters a 200 lb weight to begin the program, if they were to enter a weight of 193 lbs, the event would trigger, and the next triggering increment would be set to 188 lbs, instead of 195 lbs.
Weight Change Over Time Event Update
The weight “change over time” event has been updated with a new Admin configuration. This will now allow inputs beyond an hour number and will display accordingly throughout the system.
Impact Clinician
Enrollment
Initiate enrollment into the weight management program that you have configured.
Configure the change goal as desired for the participant. Note: if the change goal is required, the clinician will not be able to proceed without entering the member’s “starting weight.”
Click “Next” to proceed.
Configure the change event as desired, and proceed through enrollment. The change value can be updated by the clinician - the action will trigger on every loss or gain increment.
Click “Enroll” to finish the enrollment.
Clinician Dashboard
Change Goal
The change goal can be viewed from the clinician dashboard. The clinician may edit this goal, if configured as editable, and update both the change value and the “starting weight.” Changes will be reflected in the chart overlay and the logbook.
Note: currently the goal passes if the last reading is at or below the starting weight (for a loss goal).
Change Goal in Logbook and Charts
The change goal overlays starting and goal weight lines on the chart view as shown below. The “out of range” toggle will filter readings above starting weight and below target/goal weight.
Change Event
The change event can be viewed from the clinician dashboard. The clinician may edit this event and update the change value.
