Fitbit Manually-Entered Body Weight Data Behavior

Fitbit Manually-Entered Body Weight Data Behavior

This article pertains to: Inform (v2)

As part of the Measurement resource, Fitbit currently supports body weight (body_weight) data.

There are some special considerations to be aware of when working with Fitbit body weight data that has been manually created:

  • Body weight values that are manually entered are limited to one decimal place. i.e. 182.4.

    • Values entered via the Fitbit mobile app will stop you from entering values beyond one decimal place.

    • Values entered via the Fitbit web portal will allow you to enter more than one decimal place, but they will then round it to one decimal place.

  • Values that are entered as pounds will be displayed as kilograms in the Validic Inform API

    • Fitbit makes this conversion on their end and provides Validic with the kilogram values up to one decimal place. Validic does not do this pounds-to-kilogram conversion

  • Manually entered body weight values created in the Fitbit mobile app will appear in the Inform API

  • Manually entered body Weight values created in the Fitbit web portal will NOT appear in the Inform API as they are not included in the Fitbit API.
