Fitness Activity Intensity Information

This article pertains to: Legacy API (V1) Inform (v2)

Is exercise "intensity" data regularly passed along and received from other clients?

The answer is both yes and no. Yes because we do receive exercise "intensity" data from apps regularly and pass them on to clients. However, this is provided that the "intensity" information is added by a user when making exercise entries in his or her apps, or alternatively, is made available from the data source automatically. If the user does not provide intensity information, the "intensity" information is left blank or "null".

What is the quality of the "intensity" data?

Mostly, intensity data comes from a user input, and as such is completely dependent on what that user reports compared to what the actual intensity of the activity is. Please note that Intensity data is reported whenever it is made available and in the form it is provided by the data source. And as such, one source may be descriptive of the intensity of the activity, while others provide scale values such as 1-5.
