Delayed Data

This article pertains to: Legacy API (V1) Inform (v2)

Why is my data delayed?

There are several reasons that data may be delayed. Aside from connectivity issues between Validic and the app source, data such as activities, steps, or meals may be trapped on the user's mobile device that is used to gather data from the user or their tracker for example. Swiping down on the Garmin connect app or opening the Fitbit app in the foreground for a few minutes will force the app the sync to the respective app's server thus making it available for Validic to retrieve.

Some apps, such as Withings, send data directly to Validic. For these types of apps, Validic relies heavily on the timeliness of the delivery of this data. Even if the data is available from the source, Validic will be unaware until the app processes and sends these notifications.

Other apps are configured to be polled for data at certain intervals. These apps don't have any mechanism for near real time data so they may appear to be delayed before the data is pulled. For expected retrieval times, please check our Data Synchronization Time with Source support article.
