Why do my Garmin Connect fitness records manually entered in the mobile app have no calories?

Calorie data for manually logged fitness records entered in the Garmin Connect mobile app are not made available from Garmin. For these records, the "calories" value will be null from the Validic API. The duration and distance will still be populated.

Manually entered activities added in the Garmin Connect web portal will provide calorie data.
