Using Multiple Measurement Types within a Program

This article pertains to: Impact

Impact supports the ability to add multiple measurement types, and multiple data sources (apps and devices) within a measurement type, to a RPM program. This allows you to further tailor programs and collect additional relevant data to draw deeper insights into participant care progress.

As an example, you can set up a blood pressure monitoring program to track both participant blood pressure AND weight. The participant will have the ability to connect both a supported blood pressure cuff and weight scale via the source(s) of your choosing. Within a measurement type, you can also give the participant an option on which source to connect. For example, for blood pressure, you could allow the participant to connect an iHealth, Omron, or Withings/Nokia blood pressure cuff. You could also allow the participant to sync a supported weight scale from, for example iHealth, Fitbit, or Garmin.

The participant may only sync a single source per Impact program measurement type.

Admin: Adding Multiple Measurement Types (and Sources) to a Program

  1. Create or select the existing program from the Admin module.

  2. Select EDIT PROGRAM DETAILS

  3. Select desired Impact measurement types ("Measurements") to enable for the program. Note: you will need to work with your Validic Account Manager to enable the desired sources for each selected measurement type.

  4. Click SAVE

  5. The measurement type (and associated sources) for that program will now be available for newly enrolled participants.

  6. It is important to update the program goals (Admin > Select Program > Goals), events/actions (Admin > Select Program > Events/Actions [Notifications]), and content (Admin > Select Program > Content) to reflect the measurement type and source offerings within the program.

Adding a Measurement Type to an Existing Program

A new measurement type can be added to a program after the program is live. Please see the following for more information on adding a new measurement type to a program that is already live: Adding a Measurement Type to an Existing Program

Clinician Workflow: Multi-Measure Enrollment

Clinician enrollment workflow does not change with multi-measure program enrollment. The clinician will see any updated program enrollment content as updated in the Admin module (Admin > Select Program > Content). The clinician will also see associated goals and events/actions for the relevant measurement types, as set in Admin (Admin > Select Program > Goals, Events/Actions [Notifications]).

Clinician Dashboard Multi-Measure

Once the clinician has finished enrolling a participant into a multi-measure program, the dashboard will display. The Program Summary area shows the available measurement types for the program and connection status of those measurement types. In the example below, we can see that the participant has connected a source for blood pressure, but has not connected a weight source.

As soon as a participant connects one of the available sources for any data type, the Member will transition to an Active ("Device Account Synced") status. The participant does not need to connect a source for each available measurement type to move to an Active status. Impact Participant Program Enrollment Statuses

Once a participant connects a source for a measurement type, they cannot disconnect or change the source for that measurement type.

As the participant connects other sources, the source status of the measurement type in the clinician dashboard will update (Impact Participant Source Connection Status). In the example below, we can see that the participant has now connected a weight source to the program. The source status for weight has been updated:

Program Readings (Charts and Graphs):

The Program Readings section of the dashboard will display and will default to a Logbook view. The clinician can toggle the view from the view dropdown:

  • Logbook View: the clinician can select from the available measurement types to view program readings, the logbook will update accordingly.

  • Chart View: the charts for each measurement type are stacked for this view, as a connected program measurement type is available. If no readings are available for a measurement type in the selected view range, or if the participant has not yet connected a source for the measurement type, the associated charts will not be displayed (no readings to show).
