Android Native Libraries Released - February 9, 2022

Android Native Changes

  • General

    • Support for Android 5 (Lollipop) - 7.x (Nougat) will end on March 14, 2022. All versions of our SDKs and wrappers released after this date will no longer support Android 7 and lower.

      • Android 8 and up will continue to be supported by our SDKs and wrappers and our hard-working implementation and support teams going forward.

  • Google Fit

    • Fixed a potential issue where the SummaryWorker could fail silently.

  • Bluetooth

    • Added BluetoothError.LocationIsOff error when scanning on phones below Android 12. This error will occur when Location services have not been enabled on the phone.

    • Fixed general exceptions that resulted from scanning errors.

    • Improved the disconnect logic for the A&D Blood Pressure cuff (peripheral ID 2).

    • Improved discoverability of Welch Allyn devices.

    • Added BluetoothScanPredicate to BluetoothScanRequest to filter scan results before returning a match.

    • The SDK will now filter scan results for Welch Allyn devices that are not in the correct mode for pairing or reading.

    • Fixed Zewa weight scales prematurely disconnecting before a current reading can be gathered if historical readings exist on the device.

  • Samsung Health

    • Removed expedited Samsung Health subscription requests.

Cordova Wrapper Changes

  • Bundled Android native SDKs upgraded to v1.13.2

  • General

    • Support for Android 5 (Lollipop) - 7.x (Nougat) will end on March 14, 2022. All versions of our SDKs and wrappers released after this date will no longer support Android 7 and lower.

      • Android 8 and up will continue to be supported by our SDKs and the Cordova wrappers.

  • Session

    • Improved logging by allowing logging to the javascript console to be enabled at runtime with ValidicMobile.Logger.enable() or disabled with ValidicMobile.Logger.disable().

  • Bluetooth

    • Added the request of ACCESS_LOCATION_FINE for phones running Android 11+.

    • Fixed a case where read callbacks would not called if permissions have not been previously granted.


React Native Wrapper Library Released - February 14, 2022

  • General

    • Support for Android 5 (Lollipop) - 7.x (Nougat) will end on March 14, 2022. All versions of our SDKs and wrappers released after this date will no longer support Android 7 and lower.

  • Google Fit

    • Updated historical fetch to allow a custom lookback period to control the amount of data that historical fetch retrieves. The default lookback is 180 days, the same as previous SDK versions.

      • Customer developers can now optionally set a different lookback window that is as short as last 1 day and as long as last 180 days.

      • This SDK version supports the same data types for historical fetch as previous SDK versions.

  • Samsung Health

      • Android 8 and up will continue to be supported by our SDKs and the Xamarin Android wrappers.


Validic Mobile release completed - 02/15/2022

This change affects Inform only. Legacy V1 only supports fitness for UA, which will continue to be supported after this change is made.

Under Armour has announced that they will be discontinuing support of their 24/7 endpoints on February 28, 2022. After this date, Under Armour/MapMyFitness users will no longer be able to provide the following data: 

  • Measurements

  • Sleep

Under Armour/MapMyFitness will continue to be an option for new users to sync in the Validic App Marketplace and existing users that are already connected will continue to sync fitness/workout data via the Validic API.
